| Deborah Nanschild at Indigo Alpacas breeds quality coloured suri in the wonderful range of creams, fawns, blacks and greys. With proven Peruvian genetics complimented by specially chosen Australian sires, the herd offers a range of options for all levels of interest. Packages are available for new breeders whilst different genetics are available to those already breeding suri.
Indigo also breed quality black and grey huacaya featuring Elysion Memphis, a roan with consistently outstanding progeny. He has thrown all colours with his most recent progeny a stunning dark grey.
A word about colour Breeders of coloured alpaca are forever being surprised by what comes out when you least expect it! Whilst black is the dominant colour, most of us are dealing with the recessive gene that provides all other colours, with white being 'at the end of the line'. Every alpaca has a dominant colour and a secondary colour. As more progeny are produced it becomes easier to guess the likely outcome of matings. Talk to Deb to discuss your possible colour combinations. It sure makes breeding alpacas fun!
Order your fleece 'off the alpacas back' You can order your colour preference direct from Deb or better still visit the stud to choose the fleeces straight 'off the alpacas back'. Ideal for spinning, weaving, knitting and felting. Have your photo taken with your alpaca prior to being shorn.
