Indigo Destiny

Indigo Destiny has been sweeping the stakes in her show career to date and will be participating in the forthcoming 2011 Canberra Royal Show. At 8 months of age she has already won a blue ribbon at the Charles Ledger Show and came a close second (to first place) at the 2010 Bendigo Colourbration Show.

Judges comments: Destiny is what we really like to see in a show animal. Excellent coverage and neck. Good specimen of a grey with fine handling fleece. Beautiful lustre and structure. Catches your eye.

Watch out for her in February in Canberra.

About Esmeralda

Esmeralda
Esmeralda at 26 years

Esmeralda was the longest living alpaca at Indigo. She was euthanized in 2009 just after this photo was taken at 26 years of age. Number 42 on the IAR, Essie was no longer a breeding female but was good at teaching the stud boys what to do. Essie was on the original fleet to Australia from Peru and still carried a surprising 24 micron. Although she had no teeth, she lived a good quality of life and was no trouble to care for. She was affectionately called ‘the old girl’.
